DANCEWORKS GEELONG TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please read the below terms and conditions and ensure you have understood all items clearly.

  1. Dance and acrobatics involves a degree of risk of injury or muscular strain. DanceWorks Geelong employs staff that implement safe dance practices, therefore does not take responsibility for any injuries that may occur during class. In case of injury, a trained First Aid staff member will apply basic first aid and seek medical attention as appropriate. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions you are agreeing for our trained staff to apply basic First Aid in and contact an ambulance if required.

  2. If the student has known medical conditions that may prevent them from participating safely in dance classes, it is the responsibility of the student/their guardian to receive medical clearance before joining. It is also the responsibility of the student/their guardian to advise of any illness or injuries prior to class, which may prevent them from participating in class safely.

  3. Payment is required before participating in classes. Payment can be made upfront for the Term or via monthly direct debit (Pinch Payments). All paperwork needs to be completed prior to classes commencing. If a direct debit payment is missed due to insufficient funds in the nominated account, a further cost will be incurred after the second failed attempt of retrieving funds. A minimum of four weeks notice before the next term needs to be given in writing if ceasing classes before the end of the year.

  4. There are no refunds on any term fees, except in extreme circumstances, which must be discussed directly with the Director. A credit may be applied for future use.

  5. There are no refunds on costume fees. Costumes are organised during any part of the year and are unable to be returned. Costume fees cover the cost of the costume purchase or hire of the costume and the paid time and resources it takes to source these costumes.

  6. It is understood that absenteeism should be kept to a minimum as it impacts on the student, the teacher’s capacity to move forward with teaching, and the other students of the class. No more than 2 lessons per term should be missed. Refunds are not given for missed classes. This includes such activities as school camps or planned holidays during the middle of term. A courtesy call or SMS to the Director should be made in the case of absence from class. Where possible, make up lessons in another similar class can be arranged, however this must take place within the same term.

  7. A minimum of 6 students are required for a class to run unless otherwise advised by the Director. If students leave during the year, this may jeopardise the class from continuing. The Director will work with you to find another suitable class where possible.

  8. Studio location is a preference only and cannot always be accommodated. If minimum numbers for a class to run cannot be met, the Director will give the students the option of choosing a similar class at another location.

  9. It is understood that parents/guardians should be on time to drop off and pick up their children. PARENTS MUST USE THE QR CODE PROVIDED TO SIGN IN/OUT THEIR CHILD TO ALL CLASSES. If another person is signing out your child, the teacher must be notified at the beginning of class. DanceWorks Geelong does not take responsibility for students outside of their designated class time.

  10. It is understood that all students from ‘Tinies’ to ‘Seniors’ are expected to participate in the end of year ‘Showtime’ event. ‘Subs’ to ‘Seniors’ are expected to participate in the annual mid-year showcase. Kinders age 3-5 are optional for public performances. These events will be filmed and photographed and may be used for business and advertising purposes. If you do not wish for your child to appear in DanceWorks Geelong advertising you must state this in writing. In the event that a student will not be participating in the end of year show, the Director must be notified by the end of Term Two.

  11. At times when providing dance instruction, it is necessary for dance teachers to physically guide a student’s technique, posture and body alignment. This may require appropriate physical contact between staff and students. DanceWorks Geelong instructors will always ask permission before physically making a correction.

  12. All work produced by DanceWorks Geelong remains the property of DanceWorks Geelong and cannot be replicated or reproduced elsewhere without permission from the Director. (This includes, but is not limited to: choreography, creative concepts, costumes, props and sets, original music editing, artwork, logo, uniform design and media advertisements). This includes school concerts and other educational settings.

  13. All students are required to own and wear the DanceWorks Uniform to all lessons and rehearsals unless otherwise advised (with the exception of the first week of starting a new class). This includes wearing the correct specified footwear. It is not acceptable to refuse to buy the required dance shoes or tights at any stage of the dance year.

  14. All parents are responsible for remaining up to date with DanceWorks Geelong information. Newsletters and invoices are sent by email. It is up to you to provide a correct email address in a timely manner and check your email accounts regularly. All information for the year is outlined in the initial information pack. It is up to you to make note of important term dates/invoice dates/rehearsal dates/costume fee dates/concert dates and record them appropriately. The DanceWorks Geelong website www.danceworksgeelong.com and Facebook page are also updated regularly with all relevant information so please continue to check these media platforms.

  15. Any social media posts made by students or their families relating to DanceWorks Geelong should portray a clean, positive image of DanceWorks Geelong.

  16. No student under the age of 18 is to be ‘friends’ with any instructor from DanceWorks Geelong on Facebook, in line with our ChildSafe Policy.

  17. Parents and students (including adult students) are not to contact DanceWorks Geelong Staff directly or ask for their phone numbers or email addresses. All communication must go through the Director. This is in line with our ChildSafe Policy.

  18. No disrespectful behaviour will be tolerated by DanceWorks Geelong staff either in or outside of class, by students or their families. This includes rude or disrespectful written forms of communication such as email and text messages. This sort of behaviour may result in immediate expulsion, forfeiting any remaining fees that have been paid.

  19. In the event of another COVID-19 lockdown, classes will move to online learning via Zoom. If this occurs in the middle of a term, the expectation will be to try and participate for that duration, or forfeit the remaining term fees. If lockdown is in place at the start of a term, you may choose not to re-enrol for that term. Students will continue to learn routines as planned for shows via online learning.

  20. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms or someone in your household is awaiting results of a COVID Test, you must not attend class until a negative test result. Choreography will be uploaded on BAND for you to practice at home in your absence.

Enrolment in 2021 classes means that you have read and agreed to the above terms and conditions.
